Book Review: Mount Panorama by John Smailes

One very positive outcome of journalist-turned-PR guru John Smailes closing his successful and long-running business is his recent inclination to stay amused and busy writing books on subjects that have long intrigued him. So in quick succession we got to read his quite wonderful Climbing the Mountain tome on Allan Moffat, and then Race Across the World, his deeply researched and brilliantly told story of the 1968 London-Sydney Marathon.

Convertibles exist in a strange space in the motoring world. The people who buy them aren't necessarily enthusiasts, like sports car owners, but they care enough about their car to buy an inherently compromised vehicle. The entire Mini range exists in a similar sphere. Expensive, small and trendy, the Anglo-Deutsch brand is reliant on buyers making a decision with their hearts, not their heads. Electric car powered by poo unveiled by Queensland sewage treatment company

A Queensland sewage treatment company has unveiled its latest electric car powered by human waste. Four years after introducing an electric Mitsubishi hatchback powered by poo, the firm Urban Utilities has put its second electric car on the road and called it “Number Two”. The Hyundai Kona electric SUV even has the registration plates “NMBR2S” (number twos is rhyming slang for poo, in case you weren't aware).
